For your consideration is a beautiful example of early American craftsmanship: a vintage KA-BAR "Dogs Head" Hunting Knife. Blade: The blade features a classic clip point profile with a deep choil. It is stamped KA-BAR over PAT. The blade shows an honest cleaning and signs of sharpening consistent with age, but retains a strong profile.
Handle: The handle is constructed of stacked leather washers accented with black and red spacers. It is topped with a heavy aluminum pommel and a single-sided guard.
Shield: The iconic "Dogs Head" nickel-silver shield is intact and well-defined. The Dancing Bear plaque has alway attracted me. Not many KA-BARs come up. For saw with this medallion.I don't know if not many made it over the years. Or if people like these knives as I do and don't want to part with them. The Sheath is KA-BAR, and has been re stitched over the years by a previous owner.
The sheath is in fair to good condition, but KA-BAR stamp is loud and proud. I did not want to clean the medallion as I didn't want to dull the plaque any more than 95 years will do to a piece of metal that is held in the hand.
