Vintage antique 1930s 40s unmarked R H Ruana 3 pin square cut hunting knife

This great vintage knife is 8 7/8 inches long overall with a 4 3/4 inch carbon steel blade. The knife has an aluminum handle with elk antler grip. Its an early "square cut" handle and the grips are attached with 3 aluminum pins. It appears to be unmarked. This heavy duty hunter / skinner was made by Rudy Ruana in the late 1930s or early 1940s. It is used and has lots of wear. The blade has a very dark discolored patina with some small pit marks & dings along its spine. The blade is bent to the right and there is a 5/8 inch crack from the top of the handle down along the side of the guard (see photos).

The elk grip feel solid but are very weathered and worn. The end of the pommel has lots of dings.

This knife (made by one of the fathers of hand made knives) has obviously seen a lot of use. Despite its condition it still feels sturdy solid and functional. You could clean it up if you wanted to. But when I look at it with all its wear I can't help but think of all the hunts, hikes, & adventures that it must have been on.
