In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. This is a rare and beautiful piece found here made in Germany by Utica (I don't know if it has any relation to the Utica Cutlery Company of upstate New York); it's a very ornate piece of excellent quality. Its hand-forged blade is highly polished carbon steel of the finest quality: double-edged, VERY thick, with a VERY sharp point that's more than a little bit lethal.
This was a knife meant to be carried in a boot or belt, even under a ladies garter, and strictly for self-defense. Remarkably, it has virtually all of its original finish, looking like stainless steel but rest assured that it's fine Solingen steel the way it used to be made but no longer is--hand-forged and all carbon steel. It is crisply and clearly stamped on one side of its extra-long ricasso, Utica Co.
Germany, " and on the other it reads, "GX5169. " Blade itself is deeply stamped, "Mexican Stiletto. Handle appears to be turned and lacquered wood with a german silver ferrule reinforcing the bolster, with a double cross-quillon.
Condition is excellent throughout, as you can see in the photos. Measures 9.25" long with a 5-1/8" blade that's nearly a quarter-inch thick at its base. A GREAT find by any measure and a piece that's sure to enhance any collection.
