OLD Russell Green River Works Fisherman's Sawback Hunting Knife withTube Sheath
Made in Massachusetts by the John Russell company in their legendary Green River Works, this is one of the company's most iconic designs, a sawback fisherman's knife with tube sheath that was made in the late 19th or early 20th Century. It combines a VERY sharp carbon steel, straight-edge blade with a clipped point and serrated sawback edge on its top that is perfect for sawing through fish bones or for scaling. Handle is VERY high quality African ebony, hand-checkered like a gun-stock, steel-pinned over a full and tapered tang and reinforced at the bolster with clad pewter.
It's clearly stamped with the maker's mark and is found here in excellent conditon with no problems of any kind. The knife measures 9" long with 4.75" blade but by any measure this is an American classic you'll rightly come to think of as an heirloom.
