This large knife was found in a barn in Indiana. It was photographed in location found.
This knife along with another bone handle knife was located behind an antique horse plowing rig, it is in as found condition and has not been cleaned or oiled. This listing is for the wood handle knife only, the antler handle knife is not included and in another listing.
The knife has dirt and debris throughout and the wood handle has rot present and the blade has heavy corrosion and pitted throughout, the blade appears thinner due to amount of corrosion. The knife has no visible markings.
I have attempted to capture many angles in photographs, please use photos as best description. I have no further history on this piece other than it was found in a barn in Indiana and the barn was dated 1860 above the door. The antler handle knife is listed on my other listing if you are interested in viewing. I did some research and found that these rifles were commonly used by the Confederate States. I believe these knives that were found in the barn could have been Southern souvenir bring backs from the Civil War.
