DISPOSING (SLOWLY) OF A VERY LARGE, LIFELONG COLLECTION OF POCKET. POSTING A COUPLE A DAY SO BOOKMARK ME FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
NOTE - no attempt has been made to polish, clean or otherwise make this knife more attractive for photos. A very good stag handled hunting or fighting knife by Joseph Rodgers, with the old No. 6 Norfolk Street" blade stamp and "Cutlers to their Majesties - making me believe this dates to the early 1900's after the death of Queen Victoria and coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra- so some time between 1901 and 1911.
Measures approximately 9 1/4 inches long, tip to end of pommel. Interesting swedged blade profile, measuring approximately 4 ¾ inches long, tip to start of cross guard. Obverse blade stamped Joseph Rodgers Cutlers to their Majesties No. Tapered stag grips secured by 4 pins. Leather sheath with rough out, almost certainly not original.
Blade very clean and bright. Small stain near reverse tip.Small stain near blade stampings. Underside of tang near choil with small stain, likely oxidation. Hairline crack to pommel end stag - seems stabilized. No attempt made to polish out stains or clean up the brass cross guard. Please see the detailed photos which form part of the description.
No need to check out straight away. We only put up a couple of items a day, so bear with us.
