The sheath and knife are matched by serial number 1163. The sheath has some scuffs as seen in the pictures. The knife itself is in wonderful condition.

The only mark of note is on the upper part of the blade back toward the handle. It is the size of a pin head and looks like something that could easily be rubbed off with a buffing cloth.

I do not want to rub anything on the blade, so I'll leave that up to your choice. I don't even know if you can really see it in a picture, just thought I'd mention. This knife appears to be in completely unused and never sharpened condition. It is razor sharp from George, but it doesn't look like anyone has touched it since. My guess is, it sat in a dresser drawer for decades unused.

A more exquisite knife, I have never held. See in the pics how the tang is shaped as it nears the rear.

The fit and finish is that of a master artisan. Polished to a mirror shine. The proportions of this knife are gorgeous. The blade measures 4 1/2", and the overall of the knife is 9". It seats in the sheath with a perfect snap and snug hold.

You could stand on your head and it won't fall out. Obviously these were mated perfectly. I have been gathering knives since I was six years old and this is the top of the line. I like knives, but I really don't consider myself a collector, and realizing with George gone, this is a bit of a historical piece, it should go to someone who will understand what they have. The choice of stag in this handle is both beautiful and feels solid as a rock.

Sizing, shaping all complement each other. As a final description, it is classic, beautifully designed and no more are coming from this maker. Please make an offer if you'd like.
