Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades.

In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. While the pocket knives and hunting knives made by Remington over the years are among the most highly prized collectors' pieces in those categories their superb knives made for skinning, butchering and cooking never really got their fair share of the glory. And nothing better exemplifies just how well those knives were made like this outstanding butcher-style hunter/skinner which was made by the company in the 1930's. It was made as model K4806 and a finer knife of its kind by any maker would be very hard to name.

Blade is hammer-forged carbon steel of the finest quality and while it isn't particularly thick it's VERY stiff. This quality, of being thin yet strong, is the very essence of great forging in a blade. Handles are old-growth beechwood of the highest quality, now deeply and lustrously mellowed by touch and time, warm to the touch and as you can see in the photos, very easy on the eyes.

Condition is excellent and in one very key way better than new, having been professionally edged for this sale by the good people at Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles, the best in the business. As such it is WICKEDLY keen and far sharper than when it first left the factory--guaranteed to thrill even the most veteran user. We've also had a very fine leather sheath made for it and it fits it like the proverbial glove. While it was made for making the difficult strokes necessary to remove the skin from fallen game and livestock knowing chefs and butchers have always found plenty of uses for skinners like this, from trimming meats to making sandwiches. The black powder and fur-trade crowd also prize them very highly for use in historical re-enactments or merely as trade bait at rendezvous.

It measures 10.75" long with a 6-1/8" blade but the true measure of such a knife is in the using and in that respect this knife will come up huge each and every time you use it. An instant heirloom for user and collector alike--and all at a VERY fair price.
