Rare Collectible Vintage (1952) Finnish Puukko Hunting Knife. Made by Jannie Marttiini in the city of Rovaniemi (Northern Finland). The issue of these knives was dedicated to the XV Olympic games that took place in 1952 at Helsinki. The condition of the knife and the sheaths are excellent.
The diamond cross-sectioned fullered blade made of high-quality carbon steel is 4 long. Very sharp, and the sharpening is original.
No abrasion marks or rust. The name of the maker and the model inscribed on the right side of the blade J. The left fuller bears the name of Hannes Kolehmainen, who was a Finnish four-time Olympic Gold medalist and a world record holder in the middle- and long-distance running. He was the first in a generation of great Finnish long-distance runners, often named the "Flying Finns". The handle of the knife is of yellow/brown varnished Karelian birch bearing the inscription Helsinki, Suomi, 1952. The simple brass bolster is typical for the Marttiini brand.The sheath is of brown ox leather shaped in the traditional form of a salmon tail. The sheath is in excellent condition. The belt loop is intact.
