Antique Curved Skinning/Hunting Knife withStacked Leather Handle, RAZOR SHARP

This is an incredibly fine old knife, rock solid and tight, made with a hand-forged carbon steel blade and a handle made from stacked leather with some copper spacers, reinforced at bolster and pommel by some solid brass fittings with a hidden tang that you can see peened over at the butt of pommel. Its curved skinning blade is stout and sturdy, RAZOR sharp, and ready to go to work straight from the box, either in the field or in a display case housing your finest collectible pieces. I picked up this piece on a road-trip through the Midwest (I bought it in rural Indiana) and have used it in the field, where it performed beautifully, mostly skinning muledeer. I can't hunt anymore so it's ready to find a new and loving home--hopefully yours! I really don't know how old it is or who made it and I have always believed that it was probably the home-made project of its original owner or a village blacksmith, simply because I've never seen a factory-made piece of this kind. It's offered here in a VERY fine old leather sheath which fits the knife like the proverbial glove. It had no sheath at all when I bought it but this one looks custom made to fit it. This knife is absolutely razor sharp and ready to go to use as she sits, either on your belt, in your boot or on your trade blanket at rendezvous for use as trade bait.
For self-defense it'd be hard to beat and woe be unto anyone who might find themselves on the wrong end of such a knife. It's also quite beautiful as you can clearly see. Measures 8-7/8" long with 4-5/8" blade. By any measure this is a GREAT piece at an affordable price on a knife that user and collector alike will instantly come to think of as an heirloom.
