This knife was made by Irvin Campbell. His wife Clara made sheaths for his knives until she passed away in 1990, when his daughter-in-law, Dawn, took over that craft. Irvin marked his knives I. "I'd Rather Be Independent". The tradition continues to this day with his son Virgil and grandson Hunter now making knives and Dawn still making sheaths.
This is a beautiful old Irvin Campbell knife. The blade has a mirror finish, sharp edge and looks to never have been used. It 5.5 in length. The handle is silky smooth bone or antler with brass guard and butt cap.
The knife is solid and tight. Pretty large knife for Irvin Campbell.
There is a rare partial sticker on the knife handle. The sheath shows wear, but is solid and holds the knife securely. It does have a surface crack and some scuffs.
Early sheath made by Irvins wife Clara, as marked on the sheath. The sheath is also marked 14B under the belt loop.
I have taken many pictures which are the best part of the description. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
