1960'S WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. USA PRE W49 BOWIE HUNTING KNIFE w ORIGINAL SHEATH

Here is a western cutlery pre w49 marked bowie knife. This knife was made in boulder colo. In 1944-45 western cutlery made a knife for military use called the bushman, many service men brought these home to use as a hunting knife. In 1964 western recreated the bushman and the knife turned into what is now known as the W49 bowie knife.

There are two versions of this knife with identical blade stampings, BOWIE on one side and WESTERN BOULDER COLO. USA on the other side.

The first version made in 1964 (THIS KNIFE) has a brushed satin finish. The second version made in 1965 has a highly polished finished.

Knives are meant to be taken care of so I gave this a good cleaning, the knife turned out very nice. The blade is very clean with a couple of pepper marks on one side, I didn't want to get to aggressive with the cleaning.
