Ray Mears Bushcraft Knife O1 Steel with Leather sheath Survival Woodlore

This is my used Ray Mears Bushcraft knife. The knife was new when I got it, and I have used in on several camping trips for bushcraft tasks. It is a fantastic knife. The knife blade has scratches from sharpening as well as some staining which is normal for tool steel when used in the field.

This knife comes with a quality leather sheath. No worries about being the first to scratch this one, it's already broke in.

The Ray Mears Bushcraft Knife, with a blade made to almost identical specifications as the original Woodlore Knife. Is an exceptional and beautiful tool in its own right. Hand-made from start to finish by the revered British knife maker Stephen Wade Cox, the care and experience that goes into each knife is undeniable. Expertly crafted from O1 High Carbon Tool Steel, the full, mildly-tapered-tang blade features a flat Scandinavian-style bevel.

This type of steel is remarkably strong and sharpens to a very fine edge. The blade bears the distinct Ray Mears Bushcraft logo on one side, while the maker's initials are engraved on the reverse.

The dimensions of the handle were deliberated over in great detail in order to find the perfect balance between comfort and function. Ultimately, a style akin to that of our Wilkinson Sword models was chosen, which is slightly slimmer to those featured on the Woodlore Knife. Now in its second form, this latest version of the Ray Mears Bushcraft Knife comes fitted with a stunning handle of English oak.

An oft-overlooked choice for knife handles, oak's beautiful varying grain patterns help give each knife a truly unique identity. A classic British tree, the oak is commonly viewed as a symbol of strength and endurance, while also being a reminder of the beauty of the British countryside. Oak also has a place in Woodlore's history, being immortalised in Woodlore's original company logo. We are very excited to now offer this knife in what we feel is the perfect combination of materials.

We are very pleased to be working with Stephen Cox on this knife, allowing us to offer this fantastic alternative to the much-in-demand Woodlore Knife. Stephen's original sample was tested thoroughly in the field by our outdoor team to make sure it could meet the high demands of bushcraft use - suffice to say it passed the test with flying colours. Weight (without sheath): 178 g.
