This rare vintage fixed blade knife is in Excellent vintage condition! Also, included is the companion Western"oak leaf tooled" leather sheath. This hard to find Western knife & case would be great for the collector or useful while hunting small game, like bird and trout. Blade stamping indicates that this USA knife is decades old.
These "white/cream color" handle knives are long out of production, according to the book "The knife makers who went West, " knives stamped with the Pat. The book "Knife makers that went West" identifies this knife as a Tenite handle. I believe that Tenite was the Western's brand name for this type of handle composite material.
This Western knife has a beautiful and smooth "white/cream color" Tenite handle. For comparison: some knife manufacturing company's brand names (for a composite handle) included Bakelite, Phenolic, Celluloid, Delrin, Staglon, Micarta, ect. Collected, making this great condition even more rare and difficult to find.
The overall length is almost. T he blade length is approx. W E S T E R N. F I E L D.Note: (Made in USA) on the 3rd line of stamping is partially visible. This factory made WESTERN FIELD hunting knife has a smooth, two-piece. I believe the handle scales are made from a composite material.. The multi-colored handle spacers are very secure and everything is tight with No looseness. The beautiful white handle is in exceptionally good used condition, and. Has No chips or cracks. The curved aluminum "birds head style pommel" and secure metal finger-guard have a few minor signs of aging.

The mirror-like blade has some light scratches and tiny carbon age specks, but appears to have No signs of re-sharpening. Knife blade looks straight with a pointed tip, and measures approx. I believe this Western knife has a sabre ground blade, and features a false top edge, that could be sharpened if desired. This vintage hunting knife features split tang construction , with a 1 long metal finger guard that is tight with No movement.Each side of the blade has blood grooves that measures approx 2 1/4 long. (Please view photos for details). A vintage leather sheath is included and has Western "oak leaf" tooling on the front. The sheath appears original and has intact leather lacing, stiff throat, and a belt loop. This factory made leather case has a secure working snap strap, and overall measures: 8 1/2 long. The companion Western sheath/case fits the knife very well and holds it securely in place while carrying. This old hunting knife has. A lot of character and vintage appeal.... With that original Patina of time appearance not yet achieved with newer knives.
